TORONTO, ONTARIO--Enbridge Consumers Gas was awarded the
Environmental Practice of the Year award at the 2001 Financial
Times Global Energy Awards in New York on December 6. The awards
recognize the most outstanding accomplishments of the
international energy industry.

Enbridge Consumers Gas was noted for the long-standing nature,
diversity, and sustainability of its environmental practices and
its recognition that climate change is the most significant
environmental issue of the century. "This company has developed
programs that focus on internal operations and procedures as well
as on its customers through the promotion of energy efficiency,
renewables, and emissions monitoring," noted the judges.

finalists in the Global Energy Awards category Community Service
Program of the Year. Enbridge Consumers Gas is committed to
supporting the communities where it operates. The nomination
highlighted the involvement of Enbridge Consumers Gas with Share
the Warmth, a local charity that helps people at or below the
poverty level purchase energy.
The annual Global Energy Awards are co-sponsored by Platts, the
global energy information and marketing services business of The
McGraw-Hill Companies, and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Finalists are
judged by a panel of leaders in the energy industry.
